I don't see a direct connection between my personal safety and prisons. I feel like there are all kinds of violencea that I worry about as a black woman, my blood turns to ice every time I get pulled over by a police officer. Prisons don't do much to fix those aspects of personal safety that I am most concerned about.

Prisons are places of fear and oppression where people are stripped of rights both political and natural. I don't feel safe in or near a prison but not for fear of incarcerated people but for the fear of the system that takes so much from people and our society.

The physical presence of prisons with barbed wire and more does not feel safe. It feels like a symbol of violence.
