“For a number of years in the 20th century the main prison building was used as a dance hall and recreation center. Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine was acquired by the Connecticut Historical Commission in October 1968 and the property is undergoing an extensive program of restoration and stabilization as a State Historic site.”
