Monica works as a caseworker for individuals with developmental disabilities as well as some individuals with overlapping mental disabilities. In her two-part interview she discusses her role in the system of mental health care and some of the issues she has noticed within the system. One of the most striking topics she discusses is the balance between doing everything for a person with a mental illness under the concept of keeping them safe, and allowing them to make their own decisions as adults, which might lead to subsequent negative actions and consequences.
