Echo Park is a predominantly Latino community in Los Angeles whose demographics are shifting as gentrification displaces long-time residents. Civil gang injunctions (court orders that bar alleged gang members from being in certain areas) have been employed here and elsewhere in Southern California as tools to push long-time residents out of the community, under the pretense of maintaining "safety."
